Video Announcement #1

Description:
While serving on my church's Creatives Videography Team since May 2013, our team became aware that the creation of video announcements would become more of a high priority for the church and used as a primary promotional tool to highlight weekly church activities both online and in-person at the church's two location campuses.

Eventually, our team established an effective S.O.P. (Standard Operating Procedure) to which the creation of all video announcements, going forward, would adhere to. This S.O.P. would contain rules towards the formating of lower-thirds, usage and formating of video transitions, and how talent should be filmed during production and edited and framed accordingly in post-production.

Although many team members already had extensive video editing experience in both Final Cut Pro X and Adobe Premiere Pro CC, not every team member on my church's Creatives Videography Team had access to the software... and so, it was collectively decided that all video announcements would be edited using DaVinci Resolve as the team's universal software standard.

Video Announcement #3

Description:
During the early years of serving on my church's Creatives Videography Team, my church slowly began experimenting with the idea of creating video announcements.

Script-wise, the church knew what needed to be said for that particular weekend. However, the visuals for these video announcements were not exactly set... such as the creation of lower-thirds, use of video transitions, and the use of greenscreen elements or some kind of visual background to be displayed behind the talent.

Eventually, those technical questions were answered by the church several months later... and an effective S.O.P. (Standard Operating Procedure) was established for the creation of all of the church's video announcements, going forward.

Public Service Announcement #1

Description:
Throughout my years of serving with The Journey's Creatives Videography Team, our team would occasionally be assigned to create various public service announcements to showcase one of the church's supporting ministries or upcoming events. In this particular PSA, we decided to go with a multi-cam setup to give the PSA's overall presentation a more dynamic look. At the beginning of this PSA, we kept each talent’s story separate from one another… to keep them more personal and relatable… and then towards the end of the PSA, we intertwined each talent's stories together in order to advertise on the Potential Leadership Intensive itself.

Throughout my years of serving with The Journey's Creatives Videography Team, our team would occasionally be assigned to create various public service announcements to showcase one of the church's supporting ministries or upcoming events. In this particular PSA, Journey Students needed an announcement video created to discuss the camp rules for campers who would be attending youth camp that year. In similar fashion in how I filmed Pastor Mark's PSA, I filmed Brad Dreibelbis inside The Journey's studio against a backdrop... while using lower-thirds to separate each camp rule within the PSA's dialog.

45 second spot

Description:
A Door of Hope Pregnancy Center required a video advertisement that would help promote their Baby Bottle Benefit Fundraising Campaign. Job Submission

Description:
This video is called "An Introduction to Toast" which was an evaluation video submission to work for Study.com. The only requirement which I was given, was to use the first 60 seconds of their given voiceover file... everything else was up to me, based upon my creativity. Because of the voiceover's light-hearted and fun take on its source material, I knew that my selected royalty-free background music and stock images had to match the voiceover's fun and amusing tone. In conclusion, my creativity was impressive enough to be hired on as a freelance contractor.

Love Week Recap Video

Description:
Each year, my church dedicates an entire week towards serving and meeting the community needs of Newark, DE, and its surrounding metro areas. Multiple service projects take place simultaneously, and each one varies in scope. Service projects can be as simple as feeding the homeless... or they can be large and complex... like working on building projects. Regardless, every person at The Journey has a unique opportunity to serve others and show people the love of Jesus.

Christmas Music Video

Description:
Christmas Weekend at The Journey is a huge deal at my church... and The Journey's Worship Team most certainly knows that. Each year, during Christmas Weekend, the Worship Team starts off its body of worship with its annual Christmas song opener. It's very much a combination showpiece of the Worship Team's musical strengths in both vocal and instrumental talent. For 2015, the Worship Team chose to do a rock-driven version of the classic Christmas hymn "O' Come, O'Come Emmanuel" and they decided to pre-record their performance for people who would not be able to attend gatherings during Christmas Weekend at The Journey. Upon post-production completion, the Christmas music video became available on The Journey's social media accounts through Facebook, YouTube, Vimeo, and Instagram.

Video Podcast

Description:
Before I began serving only on The Journey's Creatives Videography Team during September 2015, I originally started serving on The Journey's Video Production Team from May 2014 till September 2015 and got hands-on experience in live-event videography and post-production video editing. One year before that, from May 2013 - May 2014, I originally started serving on The Journey's Production Team as a Media Technician... in which my responsibilities were to run worship slides and the main speaker's message slides in ProPresenter, during each weekend. It wasn't until a year later, in May 2014, that the use of video teaching was put into practice.

Logo Reveal #1

Description:
While taking on the commission project of redesigning First Track Entertainment's existing website into a more fully functional responsive design website, the company's president had informed me that First Track Entertainment would eventually extend its entertainment reach within the areas of music videos, television shows, and feature-length motion pictures. To maintain First Track Entertainment's company branding, a logo reveal needed to be created... so that it can be attached to any future media projects that the company would eventually create and release to the general public.

Logo Reveal #2

Description:
For a brief time, I decided to take a sabbatical from serving and attending at The Journey in Newark, DE to see if God was leading me to transition to a more local church congregation in Dover, DE. The positive aspect of being at UNITED Church of Dover is that their church body is a part of the same church network to which The Journey belongs. So while serving at UNITED Church... some things felt the same, while other things felt different. While I was at UNITED Church, I served on the church's Production Team... which sadly, the Video Team did have a huge presence outside its use of recording video podcasts. There was no existence of a Creatives Videography Team at UNITED Church because there was no need for one. Despite this lack, I took it upon myself to voluntarily create a logo reveal for them (in the hope that they might decide to use it in the future). Although UNITED Church was grateful for my voluntary effort at creating a logo reveal, they decided not to use the logo reveal after its initial review and submission... and as such, I ended my sabbatical time at UNTIED Church and eventually returned to serving and attending at The Journey in Newark, DE.

Wedding Video

Description:
About a year after I graduated from Wilmington University, Jeanette Halliburton had asked me if I would be willing to film her backyard wedding as paid commission project. I immediately said, "no." I was mainly concerned that I wouldn't be able to creatively deliver her expectations. But after a little convincing, my "no" transformed into a "maybe." I had to call a friend... and see if he would be willing to let me borrow some extra camera equipment. Luckily, he said yes... and I was able to create a multi-cam shoot for Jeanette's backyard wedding.

Game Show Introduction

Description:
While I was a college student at Wilmington University, I was required to participate in at least one internship before my final academic semester. Luckily, I was able to secure an internship that took place at the university's main campus. Numbers Bee is an online math game for K-12 students designed to promote numeracy and build confidence in their math skills through interactive learning and competition among peers. Wilmington University was approached by NumbersBee's local Delaware chapter to film and produce an educational tv game show of the popular math game. Filming took place inside the university's tv studio... and as a college intern, I was the lead post-production video editor for the entire game show. Thanks to advancements in non-linear video editing software, I took full advantage of working backward to create the game show's introduction.

Chili Recipe Video

Description:
In this class assignment, each student had to choose a pre-selected, royalty-free, music track... and then, were instructed to film a compelling, story-driven video that would relate to the student's chosen music track. The twist, however, was that each student's video was restricted from using any dialog whatsoever... the music track, and its corresponding visuals, had to tell the overall story. The music track I selected, very much reminded me of food and some type of restaurant. So that led me, to create a chili recipe video for this class assignment... and I am very thankful that one of my best friends agreed to be filmed as the video's food preparer and cook.

Movie Trailer #1

Description:
As a video editor, I have a passionate love for cinema and television. My obsession with the Star Wars saga, began very early when I was in elementary school. I vividly remember the head school librarian sitting the class down to watch a surprise film strip of the entire Battle of Hoth sequence from The Empire Strikes Back. It was a surprise for many students, because the film wasn't even released in movie theaters yet... and the head school librarian had connections that allowed the school to watch an advanced screening of a small portion of the film. My eyes were fixed on the screen, and during that very moment... I would forever become a fan of Star Wars. When Star Wars: The Force Awakens was announced, my eyes were fixated on every movie trailer that was released. And in typical video editor fashion, I took it upon myself to create a super-edit movie trailer by combining all of the previously released movie trailer footage into one long movie trailer... which was completed before the actual movie was finally released in movie theaters.

Software Used:
Adobe Premiere Pro CC, Adobe Fireworks CS6

Movie Trailer #2

Description:
As a video editor, I have a passionate love for cinema and television. When it comes to superhero movies, Christopher Nolan's "The Dark Knight Trilogy" literally set the standard of quality from which all future superhero movies would eventually adopt and follow. Instead of focusing itself on comic book fantasy, the trilogy worked very well by grounding itself in reality. Sure, there are moments within the trilogy where Batman's technology closely resembles the technological fantasy of James Bond... but, it still works... because the drama and storytelling of Christopher Nolan's "The Dark Knight Trilogy" are centered and focused around its lead and minor characters... and that's what makes this superhero trilogy believable. When movie trailers for “The Dark Knight Rises” began to drop, I wanted to take on the fun task of creating my version of a movie trailer for the film. Although the majority of the footage I used were clips of the upcoming new movie, I decided to go back and use select scenes from the trilogy’s previous two films to portray The Dark Knight’s journey.

Camp Music Video

Description:
During the summer of 2007, God blessed me with an opportunity to be hired at Camp Barnabas – a Christian summer camp for special needs kids, located in Purdy, MO. My responsibility was to create a weekly music video that showcased the campers’ weekly activities and events. Needless to say, this job was not without challenges. But these challenges allowed me to become a better person… by sharpening my technical skills and being more efficient with my time. In short, my summer experience changed me for the better… and reignited my passion for video editing. Little did I know, that my time at Camp Barnabas was just a stepping stone to something much greater. In the years that followed, I found myself back in Delaware and finally completing my college education… an educational journey that took 4 schools and 20 years to complete.

TESTIMONIALS
ABOUT

As a person, I love a good story... whether it's through film, television, stage production, reading a book or even listening to music. Life is all about stories and how we relate to them. Some are amazingly inspiring, while others are sadly tragic and move people to tears. Regardless, these stories come from the hearts, minds, and souls of people just like you and I… and every single one of them, has their own unique voice. Language is not only spoken… it is simply one out of many methods of communication. In order to relate to people, one does not necessarily need to speak a person’s language… one only needs to use the best method of communication.

My mission, vision, and purpose is not only to serve my clients, but also provide an effective means of having their unique story relationally heard. Because the moment you truly relate to someone, is the moment when life truly happens.
