Newcomer Patrice Wilson makes her entry with Sacrifice. The thirteen-track
release marks the first project for Tulut Entertainment and blends
smooth urban adult contemporary tracks with Wilson's calming vocals,
making for a memorable offering.
At a time when many solo vocalists rely on vocal runs and clever
production, Wilson prefers straightforward vocals laced only with
the transparency of her passion for God. The project is not short
of stellar production as HR Crump and Alvin Williams are at the
production helm. In fact, Crump both produces and writes the bulk
of this project, with Wilson assisting on several songs. However,
the crux of this effort rests on Wilson and her vocal delivery.
Check out the urban infused "You Care for Me" and "Forever"
which gives you a window into Wilson's love for Christ and passion
for her relationship with Him. Wilson's delivery and heart really
shine on ballads such as "We Need You Now", "Thank
You", and "Thank You Part II". And her zeal for evangelism
is evident in the end-time messages of "Jesus is Coming Soon"
and "Are You Ready?".
Wilson picks up the pace a bit on "One Time" and "Do
You Wanna" where Gram spits a few bars of lyrical truth.
"Sacrifice" is a mellow yet impactful debut for Wilson.
Her simplistic approach is effective and keeps the focus on the
message of Christ and how His Sacrifice has made life possible for
us all.
