A few years ago, Shekinah Glory Ministry bolted on the gospel music
scene. Seemingly coming out of nowhere, they managed to turn the
industry upside down with one song. Praise Is What I Do , sung and
written by Elder William Murphy, III , was sung in choir stands
all over the nation and found Christians everywhere on their faces
seeking a closer relationship with the Lord. The song and title
of the group's debut project sold over 200,000 units, virtually
an impossible feat for an independent gospel label. The record company,
Kingdom Records Inc., based outside of Chicago , Illinois , is part
of Valley Kingdom Ministries International . The company was previously
run by the very capable and gifted couple, Pastor Rose & Tony
Harper . Thankfully, Rose Harper's anointed hand is all over the
group's new, phenomenal project as she plays the key roles of producer,
engineer, songwriter, and arranger of vocals and instruments on
the group's second offering, Shekinah Glory Ministry - Live .
The first CD on the two-CD set opens with an introduction from
the pastor, Apostle H. Daniel Wilson . Harper's song, Your Name
, is a festive, bold icebreaker. The song demands praise and reverence
for the Almighty. Psalm 27 , seamlessly flowing into the rhythmic
dynamics of Your Name , is an instrumental, vocal and lyrical wonder.
Elder Cedric Ford is featured on the catchy, festive cut Awesome
& Mighty . Elder Jerrold Norwood provides exhortation for Awesome
& Mighty and is the worship leader on the track, I Exalt Thee
. Arise, Shine is another electrifying praise song. Providing some
funk for the more contemporary gospel lovers, the fun-filled, intricate
vocal stylings of Higher seeks to lift the name of the Lord “higher”.
It's a great track as is the horn-tinged, Latin-influenced Unquenchable
Worshipper . Clap/Shout , driven largely by its strong percussion
rhythms, closes out the praise portion of the project.
Starting to move into a worship mode, How Deeply I Need You glides
into the Love Medley on Disc Two. The medley includes some church
favorites including Oh How He Loves You And Me , Oh How I Love Jesus
and Donnie McClurkin 's What A Love. Other strong new songs with
the theme of love are Beyond Measure , penned by Jamari L. Pierce
and Min. Wanda M. Williams , and Greg Booth 's God's Gift. Murphy
of New Birth Missionary Baptist Church in Atlanta , Georgia under
the pastorate of Bishop Eddie Long contributes his stunning vocals
to the Shekinah Glory Ministry's sophomore project. Like Never Before
ministered by Murphy is quite a moving song, one which beseeches
God to have His power fall “like never before”. Also
included on Disc Two is the stirring Glory and the Desmond Pringle
-led track The Place . A definite highlight of the project, the
lyrics take the Christian into the secret place. Another jewel is
the song of surrender, Yes . It's one of those songs you'll want
to have for your personal time with the Lord. In addition to those
already mentioned, some more definite “movers and shakers”
are included on this project. Daniel Weatherspoon from Spoonfed
Productions comes in a Musical Director and Ray Bady brings in his
expertise as drum programmer.
Those who loved Praise Is What I Do will have another fabulous
and anointed project to add to their Shekinah Glory Ministry collection
with Shekinah Glory Ministry - Live . This one's a winner.
