Richard Justice has over 20 years experience in design, engineering, fabrication, estimating costs and problem solving with companies related to the construction industry. A large part of his career was spent as co-owner of companies including structural steel fabrication and erecting as well as sheet metal, overhead crane and fiberglass manufacturing. He has a unique perception of the construction industry and project concepts from a subcontractor’s point of view that helps him in his search for the best subcontractors.
Before joining Conseco, Richard worked five years at Hardaway Construction Corporation. With annual sales of $120,000,000.00 they were the third largest General Contracting firm in Tennessee. His responsibilities, among other things, included “Special Business and Project Analysis” and “Construction Related Problem Solving” for the owners.
He participated in successfully resolving structural steel “Design” and “Subcontractor Extra Charge” problems for a $30,000,000 “Student Life Center and Gymnasium project”. The cost savings for the “Owner” was substantial. His analysis as to the “Cause of a Problem”, helped avoid having to remove an expensive, “Rusting”, stainless steel swimming pool Hardaway had installed on top of a large hotel.
Prior to his working at Hardaway, Richard, for nine years, co-managed a local subcontracting firm. His analysis helped resolve two roofing related issues with Turner Construction Co., Inc. projects at Vanderbilt University and at the new Airport addition in Cincinnati. The savings for his company was in excess of $300,000. He also participated in negotiating issues relating to waterproofing at the new Titans stadium in Nashville.
Richard has over five years experience working with Commercial Real Estate site development, highest and best land use, sales contracts and sales.
A Structural Engineering, Two Year Associate Degree, was received, off-campus, from the International Correspondence School. Having completed the ISO 9000 training program he received certification to help companies become ISO compliant.
Richard is a Past-President of the Civitan Club of Nashville and recipient of the “Honor Key Award” and is a Past-President of the Middle Tennessee Associate Members Division, Associated General Contractors of America. |
