A Taste of Britain 2004
Andy Schneggenburger

It is a good thing the weatherman is seldom right. After seeing predictions of rain all week, a sunny day arrived to greet guests to our 15th Annual “A Taste of Britain”. Congestion was minimal at registration and most attendees flowed onto the field by noon. The Polo Club and Township have continued their improvements to the field and surrounding area including new landscaping along the entrance road. Plans to pave the road along the front of the field were not completed, but hopefully next year that will be done reducing road dust on the front row of cars and guests.

The best part of sponsoring an all marque British car show is the variety of cars that show up. This year’s attendees included a 1937 Triumph Dolomite. According to its owner, this is the only car of its type in the United States. It was imported from New Zealand and is in very good condition for its age. We also had in attendance a Moogie that looked more like a golf cart than an automobile. Its young passengers did not seem to mind the small size of their ride. Judging from their faces, they were excited to be going to a show. The field was crowded with owners and spectators all afternoon as everyone enjoyed cars, conversation, and camaraderie.

Lanco club attendance helped to make MG's the most abundant car on the field. We had help in that department from the MG’s of Baltimore who had a strong showing as well. Well represented were Triumphs, Austin Healey’s, and Jaguars. Jaguar attendance actually doubled this year to twenty-four cars. Special thanks go to the Delaware Valley Jaguar club for showing up in force. Although not a record, attendance was strong this year. We had 255 cars on the field with 11 no shows. The quality and diversity of the cars on the show field are a great indicator of the pride that all the attendees have in their cars.

Special thanks to the legion of volunteers who helped make the show a success. Each year a loyal core group of helpers brings their experience to assure a successful show. In addition, we have added some new faces to the team assuring Lanco continued success in the future.
